Tried & tested gift ideas that go down well should be shared. With that in mind we’ve started a series bringing you some of the best real life gifts.

Alan's Egg Cosy

Alan's Egg Cosy

Bronwyn's Egg Cosy

From: Amanda
To: Bronwyn and Alan
Occasion: Housewarming

Everyone loves a one-off and having something personal to you makes it extra special. Plus everyone loves seeing their name in print (or thread!). Can you believe Bronwyn had never had anything with her name on it before? She was chuffed. Apparently the egg cosies even matched Bronwyn and Alan’s new kitchen colour scheme. Totally accidental – but I’ll take the credit of being super thoughtful regardless!

Where I got them: These adorable egg cosies were made by Snapdragon (who sell the sweetest embroidered pieces on Notonthehighstreet.com). As I happen to have a brood of hens at home, it made perfect sense to accompany the cosies with a dozen eggs from the home range.

Toot your own horn!

  1. I really love the idea of personalised presents. When I discovered Holly-Anne Rolfe’s beautiful bespoke illustrations of other peoples homes (www.hollyshouses.co.uk), I knew I’d found the ultimate in thoughtful gifts. You simply send Holly a snapshot of the house/home in question and hey presto she draws an illustration of the property, makes it into a rubber stamp, and sends it back, together with a black ink pad. Just think of the fun they’ll have customising their own stationery and cards! Brownie points me thinks.
